ProfileA little bit about what makes Phage… Phage!

Phage is a boutique London agency specialising in design for luxury, creative sector, and design-conscious businesses. Our work addresses real commercial needs and delivers measurable results across branding, print, and digital, ensuring that the visual communication at all levels of our client’s businesses is consistent, on-brand, and effective.

We have been successfully providing innovative and creative corporate identity, print, and web design services to UK businesses and organisations since 2002 and our philosophy is simple; to deliver beautiful, intelligent design solutions that are workable and appropriate for our clients’ target audiences, histories, and budgets.

Our approach

We work with our clients in a direct and transparent fashion, an approach that has led to us forming long-term relationships with most of them. Our high level of client service and our passion for design mean that you’ll never have to compromise on creativity or quality, receiving innovative, intelligent, and inspiring design that delivers a powerful lasting impression.

Measurable results

Our design solutions address real commercial needs and deliver measurable results: Our print design for one biannual event has delivered year on year increases in visitor numbers in spite of decreasing marketing budgets, with an outdoor campaign leading to a 33% increase in visitors in one year alone, while a recent website we launched had paid for itself within 3 months and delivered a return on investment of over 300% within 6 months!

Understanding your needs

We think about our work… hard, systematically unpicking a brief to get to the real needs of our clients and drawing on our expertise to offer recommendations on how best to achieve their goals. Our client-led approach is an important part of that process, it keeps our graphic design fresh and our minds focused on what our clients really need.

Our people

We’re not a huge agency. It means that we are able to give our clients the full attention they deserve and can adapt to work around you instead of the other way around. It also means that you will always work with senior creative talent, benefitting from over 30 years combined commercial design experience; When you commission Phage you'll deal directly with the designers doing the work resulting in a productive and efficient working relationship.

The practice is owned jointly by the two co-founders and Directors—Danny Brooks and Natasha Zlobec—and operates from its studio in Clerkenwell, London.

Project management

We’ve been doing this for some time now and along the way have built up a robust and effective team of print and production partners. Add to that some excellent in-house project management skills and we’re able to keep things running smoothly throughout the course of your design project, ensuring that deadlines are met and that the end product looks as fantastic as you dreamed it would.

How much?

Effective design comes from having a design team that understands when to use restraint and when to apply the bells and whistles. At Phage we’ve worked with people at all stages of their business development and understand the needs and challenges they face. We have consistently provided real value for money and lasting, measurable results, drawing on our expertise to offer recommendations on how best to achieve our client’s individual goals.

Environmental and accessibility practices

At Phage we always recommend solutions to our clients that don’t cost the earth, with more than 95% of jobs since 2007 being printed on FSC regulated or fully recycled stocks, and a team of suppliers who share our high environmental principles. We also care about people being able to read our work (it’s pretty important we think!) and always follow RNIB clear print guidelines when appropriate. Oh, and we also recycle, walk to work, and have a wheelchair accessible studio.
